The following presentations, publications and accomplishments were submitted by UCA faculty and staff: Joe Horton and Nona French, Department of Economics, Finance, Insurance and Risk Management, along with Lee Elliot, assistant manager of Texarkana, Ark., presented a paper titled, ?”Taxation and Texarkana” at the 55th annual meeting of the Arkansas College Teachers of Economics and Business on Oct. 7 at Arkansas Tech University.
Stacey Stephens, Department of Physical Therapy, made the following presentations this year:

Kim Hoffman, Department of Political Science, presented a paper on the status of emergency management education with Kay Goss, former associate director of FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) titled, “Public Administration, Are You Ready, Here comes Emergency Management” at the Southeast Conference on Public Administration on Oct. 6 in Little Rock.
Lauren Maxwell, Department of Marketing, Management and Information Systems, was program chair for the 55th Annual Meeting of the Arkansas College Teachers of Business and Economics. She is also the organization?s newly elected president.
The ACTEB meeting included presentations from Dr. Linda Beene, director of the Arkansas Department of Higher Education and Koby Koomson, Former Ambassador to the U.S. from Ghana. Panel participants from UCA’s College of Business Administration included College Dean Pat Cantrell, Associate Dean Joe Cangelosi, Ronald White from the Department of Marketing and Management and Indumati Siddaramaiah, visiting economics professor from the University of Mysore, India. Papers presented by UCA faculty from the College of Business Administration included, White, Siddaramaiah, Joe Horton, Nona French, Marsha Carson, Rebecca Gatlin-Watts, William Freidman and Roy Whitehead.
Donna Fisher Smiley, Department of Speech-Language Pathology, was invited to present on a conference call on Oct. 11 to the ICF (International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health) Subcommittee. The subcommittee is chaired by Dr. Margaret Giannini, director of the Office of Disability at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Smiley was asked to talk about her recent publication in the special issue of Rehabilitation Education. Her article was titled, ?The International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF): Implications for Deafness Rehabilitation Education.? Other authors of articles from the special issue also presented their work to the subcommittee.
Victor Prati, a first year doctor of physical therapy student, assisted by two physical therapy faculty members, Hao Liu and James Fletcher, presented a poster, titled ?Perceptions of College Students to the Current Physical Therapy Profession and Professional Education Process,? at the American Physical Therapy Association Combined Sections Meeting 2005 in New Orleans.
