CONWAY—The University of Central Arkansas Physics Club will host a Google Hangout Seminar Tuesday, October 14 at 5:30 p.m. central time in Lewis Science Center 168.
The speaker is Dr. Abby Kavner, associate professor in the Earth and Space Science Department, University of California Los Angeles. She will speak on the topic of mineral physics, the intersection of physics, chemistry, and geology. Kavner’s seminar will introduce the field of mineral physics to undergraduate physics and chemistry majors.
This seminar marks the second installment of the Physics Club’s efforts to bring in speakers using Google Hangouts. The first installment was in partnership with Physics Today in which one of the magazine’s authors hosted a seminar via Google Hangouts.
