CONWAY — The University of Central Arkansas Percussion Ensemble will be in concert Monday, April 21, in the Snow Fine Arts Center Recital Hall.
The concert, free and open to the public, will begin at 7:30 p.m.
The date was changed from the original one, which conflicted with another event, but the unique pieces, instruments and design remain.
“It’s a great concert to attend because it is both musically and visually interesting,” said Dr. Blake Tyson, associate director of percussion. “The stage will be full of musical instruments from around the world and from the local junkyard.”
Tyson said several catchy pieces, including a premiere work composed by UCA faculty member Paul Dickinson, would be played on the arresting set. Michael Burritt’s “Timeless” will feature senior Moose Davis on marimba, which is a set of wooden bars that are struck to produce sound. An uncommon version of Brian Nozony’s “Parallel” will be played with metal pipes, and a sextet of Ivan Trevino’s “Six” is set for keyboard.
