‘Peking Dreams’ performance sold out

NATIONAL CIRCUS AND ACROBATS OF CHINA TO CONTINUE REYNOLDS SEASON

CONWAY — UCA Public Appearances will present The National Circus and Acrobats of the People’s Republic of China at the Donald W. Reynolds Performance Hall on the University of Central Arkansas campus Thursday, Oct. 8, at 7.30 p.m.

Although the performance is sold out, in the event tickets become available, the public will be notified via the Reynolds Performance Hall Facebook page.

Direct from Beijing, the group will perform “Peking Dreams,” which will include foot juggling with umbrellas, unicycles, adagio of four, grand martial arts, high chair balancing, aerial silks, rope tricks (lasso), teeterboard, grand flying trapeze and group contortions.

“Peking Dreams” was performed for the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008 and has been performed more than 600 times before more than 400,000 people in China, Europe, Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong and Taiwan.peking-dreams-4

“The artists will keep the audience on the edge of their seats throughout the show with
their unique choreography and beautiful costumes that incorporate traditional Chinese acrobatics with a modern-day Cirque-feel,” said Amanda Horton, director of Reynolds Performance Hall.

The National Circus and Acrobats of the People’s Republic of China is one of the longest running and most distinguished circus troupes in China, founded in 1958. The circus has toured more than 50 countries, and many of the artists in the troupe have won international awards. The National Circus and Acrobats of the People’s Republic of China have influenced circuses around the world, including Cirque du Soleil, Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey.

Tickets range from $23‐$40 for the general public, $10 for children and students and free for UCA students with current I.D.
