The School of Nursing at the University of Central Arkansas recently announced the award of undergraduate and graduate scholarships for the 2017-2018 academic year.
Scholarship recipients are as follows:
Betty Martin Nursing Scholarship Award
Lindsay Massey, of Conway, has been selected as the 2017 recipient of the Betty Martin Nursing Scholarship. This scholarship was established in memory of Dr. Betty Martin who was chair of UCA Department of Nursing for a number of years. The scholarship is for a junior or senior nursing student who is enrolled full-time in required nursing courses, in good academic standing and demonstrates high academic and professional standards.
Clara M. Forsberg Nursing Scholarship
Cortney Jones, of Cushman, has been selected as the 2017 recipient of the Clara M. Forsberg Nursing Scholarship. This scholarship endowment was established by the estate of Dr. Carl and Mrs. Clara Forsberg. Mrs. Forsberg was a faculty member in the Department of Nursing when the program was first established. She was a woman of high professional standards, and she expected her to students to exemplify those standards. The scholarship is for a junior or senior nursing student who is enrolled full-time in required nursing courses, in good academic stand and who demonstrates high professional standards.
Hawk-McCaslin Nursing Scholarship
Kristen Woods, of Hot Springs, has been selected as the recipient of the 2017 Hawk-McCaslin Nursing Scholarship. The scholarship is for a graduate nursing student, enrolled in at least six credit hours of required graduate nursing courses, in good academic standing and who demonstrates high academic and professional standards. This scholarship was established by a very caring nurse in honor of the nurse’s family members.
Lauretta Koenigseder Nursing Scholarship Award
Harleigh Andrews, of Green Forest, is the 2017 recipient of the Lauretta Koenigseder Nursing Scholarship Award. The scholarship is for a junior or senior nursing student who is enrolled full-time in required nursing courses, in good academic standing and who demonstrates quality nursing care and professionalism.
School of Nursing Oustanding Undergraduate Student Award
Laken Harrell, of Hot Springs, is the 2017 recipient of the School of Nursing Outstanding Undergraduate Student Award. The recognition is awarded to the senior nursing student who faculty and other seniors believe has assumed leadership roles and demonstrates the greatest potential for becoming a leader within professional nursing.
Suzanne Harvey Graduate Nursing Scholarship Award
Lesley Keith, of Clinton, has been selected as the 2017 recipient of the Suzanne Harvey Graduate Nursing Scholarship. This scholarship endowment was established by her husband, Dr. David Harvey, and the family of Mrs. Harvey in her memory. She was a graduate of UCA’s first nurse practitioner class and practiced for a number of years as a nurse practitioner before her death.
