Noted television director, actor, teacher, and author, Mary Lou Belli and professional actor, Charles Dougherty will present an ?acting for television? demonstration and screening showcase on Wednesday, April 26 at 7:30 p.m. on Centre Stage of the Snow Fine Arts Center on the campus of UCA. Belli is an accomplished actor, having appeared in musical theatre and daytime television in New York, followed by a Los Angeles career directing theatre. Her TV directing credits include ?Girlfriends,? ?The Hughleys,? ?Sister Sister,? ?Major Dad? and ?Charles in Charge.?
She has worked with such screen stars as Faye Dunaway, Annie Potts, Tim Curry, John Ritter, Billy Dee Williams, and Jamie Lee Curtis.
Dougherty has appeared in many films including ?Beautiful,? ?An Existential Affair,? ?Welcome to Oblivion,? ?Slackers,? ?Hunk,? and ?Ultra Warrior.? He has appeared on television programs from ?Happy Days? to ?Monk.?
He trained at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco and the Drama Studio in London and has appeared in over 150 television commercials.
Belli and Dougherty will spend a week conducting master classes and workshops for UCA Theatre and film students. Several of these students will also be featured during the showcase to demonstrate the techniques taught by the duo. The performance is free and open to the public. Tickets are not required. Doors open at 7 p.m.
