NEW LEARNING SUITE OPENS IN COE

The University of Central Arkansas College of Education will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony for an upgraded Learning Suite at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 6.

The Learning Suite, which includes the Technology Learning Center (TLC), is located in Mashburn Hall on the UCA campus.

“Students will have the opportunity to become innovative teachers through the availability of various upgraded technology to create innovative learning experiences for UCA student and community partners,” said Dr. Jason Trumble, assistant professor.

Several first floor spaces in Mashburn Hall were renovated to accommodate the new Learning Suite.

The space now offers a maker space, six 3-D printers, HyperDuino microprocessors and a green screen wall for video production. Students will also have access to a classroom set of MacBook Air computers and other Apple-enabled technology.

“The College of Education has received an incredible upgrade and is now closer to current models of physical spaces as seen in the most innovative schools that train teachers to be effective in digital age learning environments,” Trumble said.

The event is free and open to the public.
