Dr. Linda Musselman, Associate Professor and Chairperson of the Department of Occupational Therapy at the University of Central Arkansas, has been elected to the office of chairmanship of the American Occupational Therapy Association Program Directors Education Council (PRODEC).”It is truly an honor to be elected to a leadership role by my program director colleagues across the United States,” she said, adding, “This is an exciting time to be in a leadership position in AOTA: The association is approaching its 100th year, and serving in this position will afford me opportunity to contribute to its Centennial Vision, which is now underway.”
Dr. Musselman came to UCA and assumed the Chairmanship of the Occupational Therapy Department in 1991. Under her leadership, the program has progressed from a baccalaureate to an entry-level master’s degree program, class size has increased, and the number and credentials of faculty has also increased. UCA now has one of the highest qualified occupational therapy faculty in the nation.
Dr. Musselman is a past president of the Arkansas Occupational Therapy Association, previously served on the Commission on Education of the American Occupational Therapy Association, and was named a Fellow of AOTA in 1998. In addition, she currently serves on the Certification Standards Committee of the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy, the sole credentialling agency for occupational therapists worldwide.
She has practiced in occupational therapy for over 25 years in six states, and has worked in long term care, physical rehabilitation, acute care, public schools as well as higher education. She teaches Introduction to Research, Health Care Administration, Research I, and assists in the coordination of fieldwork experiences. She has her BS from Ohio State and the M.Ed. and PhD. from the University of Florida.
