LIGHTWIRE THEATER TO REINVENT
CHILDHOOD CLASSICS OCT. 5 AT REYNOLDS

CONWAY — Lightwire Theater will bring to the University of Central Arkansas a 21st-century version of two well-known children stories at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 5.
The production at the Donald W. Reynolds Performance Hall, part of Conway’s ArtsFest, the annual celebration of arts in Conway, will shine a new light on a couple of much-loved stories. Hans Christian Andersen’s “The Ugly Duckling” has helped many young children comprehend some of the world’s common struggles; Aesop’s ancient fable “The Tortoise and the Hare” teaches the common phrase “slow and steady wins the race.”
Lightwire Theater was a semifinalist on the 2012 season of America’s Got Talent.
“We are really excited about this show,” said Amanda Horton, director of UCA Public Appearances. “It is very mesmerizing, and the audience will absolutely love it.”
The Lightwire Theater began in New York with two male Broadway performers, Ian Carney and Corbin Popp, and their connection of art, theater and technology. With the help of their wives, they developed a puppetry technique using EL wire, which is short for electroluminescent wire. After much practice and development, their new way of art expression began to skyrocket.
