Independent filmmaker David Gordon Green will be appearing at the University of Central Arkansas, Feb. 24-25 as part of the College of Fine Arts and Communication?s Visiting Artist Series.
Green will be screening his film Undertow in Stanley Russ Hall, Room 103 on Thursday, Feb. 24 at 7:30 p.m. He will also be a guest judge at the first UCA Film Festival. The festival will be held on Friday, Feb. 25 at Stanley Russ Hall, Room 103. There will be a reception at 6:30 p.m. followed by the festival screening at 7:30. All events are free and open to the public.
Green was born in Arkansas, raised in Texas, and attended the North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem. All three of his feature films take place in the South and examine various aspects of life in small, rural areas.
Green is the writer/director of the film George Washington (2002), which was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for Best Script and won Best First Film from the New York Film Critics Circle. In 2003, he released All the Real Girls, starring Zooey Deschanel. His latest movie Undertow, features Jamie Bell, Josh Lucas and Dermot Mulroney and was produced by Terence Malick.
