Inclement Weather Update for Thursday, February 20, 2025

First, a special thank you to our weather essential employees at the Physical Plant, Police, Housing, and Dining Services for ensuring that campus operations continue during inclement weather. We also appreciate the teams in Torreyson Library, Ronnie Williams Student Center, Randy Pastor Student Health Clinic, and the HPER Center for taking steps to maximize their operations during these last few days. The safety and well-being of our campus are our utmost priority, so the work that these teams have done and continue to do is vital during these times.

Despite the very hard work put in by Physical Plant employees to clear sidewalks, roadways, and pathways from priority parking areas for our essential operations, extreme cold temperatures have made the task difficult and ice continues to pose hazards to campus.

In anticipation of ongoing hazardous travel conditions throughout the region, all classes on Thursday, February 20, will use the university’s remote instruction plan. Students should monitor their UCA email accounts for information from faculty regarding course activities, assignments, and expectations, as well as syllabus adjustments to the overall course schedule.

Business offices will also continue remote operations for Thursday, February 20. Weather-essential personnel should report to campus. Supervisors, in coordination with division vice presidents, should communicate with employees regarding on-site staffing. All other UCA employees should follow their remote work plan.

The modified hours for essential campus services for Thursday, February 20, are as follows:

  • The IT Help Desk is currently operating on a normal schedule, however, there may be limited staff available to answer the phone. You can leave a message and a member of the Help Desk staff will be in touch, or for faster response and resolution you can submit an online help ticket.

Another email communication will be sent on Thursday in the late afternoon or early evening with information on the operational mode and hours for Friday, February 21.

I hope that all of you are staying safe and warm during these cold, icy days. As a reminder, any further changes to university operations will be communicated through your university email, as well as the UCA website and our official social media channels. In addition, we will also send an alert out via the Safe@UCA app.

Thank you,

Houston Davis
