Two University of Central Arkansas employees are members of the inaugural class of the Conway Area Leadership Institute.

Shelby Fiegel, assistant director of the Center for Community and Economic Development, and LaTonya Matheney, program coordinator in the Division of Student Services, were two of approximately 35 individuals chosen for the class.

The Conway Area Leadership Institute prepares emerging leaders to serve the Conway community. Through shared experiences and frequent interactions, participants will engage in an eight-month curriculum.

As participants, the two took part in a two-day class retreat held in April followed by monthly programming. The leadership program culminated in November with graduation.

Class participants were selected because they were considered to be “highly motivated individuals who are interested in learning, pursuing first-hand experience, and interacting with community leaders, businesses, and organizations.”
