CONWAY — Tickets are on sale for the Haifa Symphony Orchestra’s concert at the University of Central Arkansas’s Donald W. Reynolds Performance Hall.
The performance is set for 7:30 p.m. on Monday, March 3.
The Haifa Symphony Orchestra received the Prime Minister’s Award for the top performer of original Israeli music in Israel.
“The audience will enjoy this mix of classical favorites presented by this talented symphony,” said Amanda Horton, director of UCA Public Appearances.
The program includes Carl Maria von Weber’s “Overture to the Opera Euryanthe;” Mozart’s “Symphony in G Minor, No. 40, K.550;” and Tchaikovsky’s “Symphony No. 4 in F Minor, Op. 36.”
The Conway stop is part of the Haifa Symphony Orchestra’s first tour of the United States.
According to www.haifasymphony.co.il, the group was formed in 1950 in Haifa. Since then it has become the musical center of Haifa and north Israel. Maestro Xu Zohng is the music director.
The orchestra takes part in the “Kadma” & “Israeli Notes” programs that teach today’s Israeli youth about classical music. The group also encourages artists to make original Israeli music and gives many Israeli soloists and conductors a chance to perform.
Tickets are available at the UCA Ticket Central Box Office. Ticket prices are $30-$40 for adults, $27-$37 for senior citizens, $25-$35 for UCA alumni, $23-$33 for UCA faculty and staff, $10 for children and free for UCA students with a current student ID.
