University of Central Arkansas Greek alumnae will relive their collegiate years in a special “sleepover” event in the new Greek Village on Friday and Saturday, August 14 and 15.
The event is one of several commemorating the opening of the Greek residences for Panhellenic sororities—Alpha Sigma Alpha, Delta Zeta, Sigma Kappa, Alpha Sigma Tau and Sigma Sigma Sigma. Greek alumnae from each of the five sororities will have a sleepover at the homes prior to current students moving in on August 16.
“The Panhellenic sororities are excited to welcome back alumnae to reconnect with their sisters and see the legacy they have built for their chapter at UCA,” said Lindsey Shurley, assistant director of Student Life and Panhellenic Sorority and Independent Greek Council Sorority advisor. “The alumnae have been looking forward to their new homes for over a decade, and it will be an incredibly prideful and emotional moment when they return to campus and see their letters on the houses for the first time.
Greek women from pledge classes starting with the 1950s to classes from the last decade are expected to attend.
“This is an exciting time for Greek Life at UCA,” said Wendy Holbrook, associate dean of Student Life. We have been dreaming about this project for over ten year. In 2005, we visited other campuses to tour their Greek villages and now we have our own.
Chapter rooms for the four National Pan-Hellenic Council sororities—Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. and Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.—are also included in the opening of Greek Village.
