Ron Edwards, Cooperative Education, received a $25,000 grant to begin a student internship program at the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission.
By awarding internships to student intern applicants, the University of Central Arkansas and the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission are striving to encourage students to pursue careers in fish and wildlife conservation, including jobs in wildlife law enforcement, fisheries biology/management, wildlife biology/management, environmental education and interpretation, legal, and related fields.
This internship program will enhance classroom learning by integrating academic curriculum and real-world work experience, will confirm or redirect career decision-making through on-the-job experience in a chosen field, and will improve job opportunities after graduation by giving students valuable work experience and contact with potential future empoloyers.
