Rehta Zabel, College of Health & Applied Sciences, received an $8,294 grant for the Quentin N. Burdick Rural Health Interdisciplinary Program.The grant is funded by the Department of Health and Human Services through the Health Resources and Services Administration and the University of Arkansas for Medical Services.
According to the author the grant will provide, ?More allied health-care providers knowledgeable about their particular circumstances associated with health service delivery in rural areas; and thereby increase the numbers of providers in underserved rural areas.?
The grant will also provide educational opportunities for physical therapy students to learn more about interdisciplinary health care in rural communities, and it will offer additional opportunities for students to interact with individuals in the community in a unique service learning project in conjunction with UAMS.
