Dr. Jeff Whittingham, College of Education, recently received a $23,855 grant from the U.S. Department of Education through the Center for Civic Education to help establish ?We The People,? a civic education program, at public schools across the state.
According to Whittingham, ?We The People? programs promote civic education at the elementary, middle and secondary levels. The grant will provide in-service opportunities for teachers as well as cirriculum materials.
This is a state-wide program. Teachers across the state will receive classroom sets of textbooks. The program will host summer institutes on the UCA campus that will offer graduate credit for UCA students.
