Graduate School announces McLauchlin Scholars

The Graduate School of the University of Central Arkansas is pleased to announce Angela Quattlebaum and ReShonda Willis as the recipients for the 2005-06 Robert W. McLauchlin Graduate Scholarship. Angela Beth Quattlebaum, from Helena, Ark., graduated from UCA in 2002 with a bachelor of science degree in health sciences with an emphasis in physical therapy. She is a second year graduate student pursuing a doctorate in physical therapy.

Quattlebaum is the daughter of Terry and Monica Quattlebaum of Helena. In high school she was a Girls State Delegate and listed in Who?s Who Among High School Students. She won awards in chemistry and Spanish. In her college career she was on listed on Presidential Scholars, Dean?s, and Chancellor?s lists. She was also active in Sigma Kappa chapter of Phi Theta Kappa and the Pre-Physical Therapy Club.

ReShonda Willis, from Strong, Ark., graduated in 2005 with a bachelor of science degree in health sciences with an emphasis in physical therapy. She is a first year graduate student pursuing a doctorate in physical therapy.

She is the daughter of Priscilla Jones of Strong. In the last several years, Willis has been involved in the Lion’s Club where she served in 2002-03 as president. In 2002, she was also a member and secretary of the Pre-Physical Therapy Club. She is an active member of Gamma Beta Phi and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. She has volunteered at Bethlehem House and Haven House. In the spring of this year she volunteered to help the Faulkner County Day School write a grant for playground equipment.

The Robert W. McLauchlin Graduate Scholarship Fund was endowed in December of 1995 after the death of Dr. Robert M. McLauchlin, then dean of the Graduate School. The scholarship provides funds to graduate students who have been admitted into the Graduate School with full-qualifications and who are enrolled for nine or more credit hours per semester. The scholarship is renewable for the second semester as long as the student maintains a grade point average of 3.0 and continues full-time study. Selection of the award winners is competitive and based on academic performance, school and community involvement and financial need. The selection is made by a committee of UCA graduate faculty and administrators.

Applications must be submitted early in the spring semester each year. Selections are made mid-spring for the fall semester.
