CONWAY — The University of Central Arkansas Digital Filmmaking program will present a graduate student film screening at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 5.

The even in the Donald W. Reynolds Performance Hall is free and open to the public.

“UCA’s graduate thesis films typically keep the film community in Central Arkansas in baited breath,” said Michael Ferrara, one of the MFA students in the program. “Everyone wants to see what our program can produce next, and every year these films represent some of the most polished young filmmakers that Arkansas has to offer.”

To complete their MFAs, students must complete their thesis films and present them in a public screening.

The films scheduled to be shown, as well as short descriptions, include:

  • Nora Noir, directed by Cameron Vaughan of Cabot. “Nora, stuck in a suffocating marriage and a small Texas town, struggles to escape to the beautiful wine country of France.”
  • Graveyard Girl, directed by Steven Oder of Cincinnati, Ohio. “A quirky teenage girl who hangs out in graveyards must cope with loss while being stalked by a demon.”
  • Theoria, directed by Matt Foss of Denver, Colo. “Dr. Mendel has to determine whether to save or destroy the greatest of his creations, an intelligent design with free will and the ability to do good or evil.”

Ferrara said the event was a popular one.

“Whenever we screen these films, it means a lot to the students and faculty of UCA, but it also means a lot to the film community here in Arkansas,” he said.
