FLY Dance concert to benefit hurricane victims

UCA?s Office of Minority Services will host a FLY Dance concert to benefit the survivors of Hurricane Katrina at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 20, at Reynolds Performance Hall.

The hip-hop/street dance concert is free, but a suggested donation of $5 will be accepted at the door and contributed to Faulkner County?s United Way fund for disaster relief. Seating is limited to the first 1200 persons at the door. No tickets will be printed. Doors open at 7 p.m.FLY Dance began on the streets of Houston in 1993. Choreographer Kathy Wood discovered them at a Houston street festival and has taken them from the street into performance halls and festivals throughout the nation and around the world. FLY is one of the most booked young companies in the United States today.

UCA President Lu Hardin calls the FLY Dance concert another great way for UCA to help the Hurricane Katrina victims here in Conway. ?What better way to help the ongoing Gulf Coast disaster relief than to celebrate and enjoy the amazing contributions of these young African-American and Latino men from Houston. Their performance will electrify the audience. We are so proud of our Minority Services office for bringing them to the UCA campus.?
