Amy Whitehead, director of UCA’s Center for Community and Economic Development (CCED), has been named to the Community Development Advisory Council of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis.
The St. Louis Federal Reserve Bank serves the Eighth Federal Reserve District which consists of Arkansas and portions of six other states: Missouri, Mississippi, Tennessee, Kentucky, Indiana and Illinois.
Whitehead was one of six individuals named to the council for a three-year term. Council members are executives representing nonprofit organizations, financial institutions, universities, government and foundations from across the district. They meet bi-annually to discuss relevant issues in the District and to suggest ways the bank and suggest ways the bank might support local development efforts.
“UCA has partnered with the St. Louis Federal Reserve Bank for many years to deliver the Community Development Institute and other state-wide economic development events. I am pleased to have this opportunity to work with the council to identify promising practices that will assist Arkansas communities,” said Whitehead.
CCED is a part of the University of Central Arkansas’ Division of Outreach and Community Engagement. CCED manages the Community Development Institute Central, supports Arkansas communities and community developers, and represents the university in its community engagement efforts. The Community Development Institute, established in 1987 at UCA, trains community and economic development professionals in Arkansas and surrounding states. The complete CDI experience is a three-year training program, with four days of intensive training per year. Participants move through the program curriculum in cohorts, and are exposed to a comprehensive, applied approach to the field of community and economic development.
