Artist reception to be held Tuesday, Sept. 9
The University of Central Arkansas’s Baum Gallery will host an artist reception Tuesday, Sept. 9, from 4-7 p.m. for its two fall exhibits: “Vital Signs,” a solo retrospective by Jessica Mongeon, and “Symbiosis,” a group exhibition that includes Lisa Krannichfeld, Emily Moll Wood, Yelena Petroukhina and Melissa Wilkinson.

The works in both exhibitions explore the connections between humans and nature through a wide range of media including painting, drawing and ceramics.
“Vital Signs,” a solo retrospective exhibition by Jessica Mongeon, associate professor of art and the Foundations Coordinator at Arkansas Tech University, includes drawings, paintings and mixed media works that span the last 11 years of her practice. Mongeon’s work investigates how systems of nature connect to human biology. Originally from Rolette, N.D., she currently lives with her spouse and two children in Russellville.
The artist reception is free and open to the public. The exhibition will run through Oct. 3.
The Baum Gallery, located in room 145 of McCastlain Hall on the UCA campus in Conway, is open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Baum Gallery is an educational art museum for UCA students, faculty and staff, and the Central Arkansas community. The Director and Faculty Exhibitions Committee select national and international touring exhibitions, sponsor juried student shows, and cooperate across disciplines to curate original exhibits distinctly suited to an academic environment. The gallery develops exhibitions and events that invite interaction and encourage dialogue about visual art: the creators, studio process, history, criticism, curation and cultural contexts.
