The following faculty and staff have recently received grant funding:
The Department of Computer Science receives continuous support from Acxiom Corporation. A grant for $105,000 covers the time period from July 2006 to June 30, 2009. Dr. Chenyi Hu, chair of the department, expressed his appreciation to Acxiom for the trust on behalf of the department. This additional resource will help the department to further enhance its academic programs through curricula enhancement, increasing faculty and student research productivity, recruiting outstanding faculty members acquiring computing equipment for both teaching and research and providing professionals services to the community.
Dr. Rebecca Gatlin-Watts and Dr. Mike Rubach, College of Business Administration, recently received a $48,000 grant for a program titled, ?Alliance to Promote Fair Trade and Sustainable Development.? Participants will develop a broader knowledge of the cultures involved and an understanding of the nuances of working with people from other cultures.
Jeff Whittingham, Department of Middle/Secondary Education & Instructional Technologies, received a $23,000 grant for a program titled, ?We The People: The Citizen and the Constitution.? The grant is funded by the U.S. Department of Education through the Center for Civic Education.
?We the People? programs promote civic education at the elementary, middle and secondary levels. The grant will provide in-service opportunities for teachers as well as curriculum materials.
