The following faculty recently received grant funding for various programs and projects:Lorrie George Wood, Department of Occupational Therapy, and Linda Moore, Department of Speech Language Pathology, recently received a $95,000 grant for the UCA Assistive Technology Equipment Project.
The grant is being funded by the U.S. Department of Education through Arkansas Rehabilitation Services.
The funds will provide assistive technology devices for UCA students in several disciplines to use.
Don Perry, Department of Chemistry, recently received a $2,500 grant to investigate better methods of detecting dangerous organic molecules such as pesticides in the environment.
The grant is being funded by NASA through the Arkansas Space Grant Consortium.
John Bratton, Kim Bradford, Victor Puleo and Sherry Roberts, collaborated on a grant that resulted in a $52,700 award that will be used to host the 2006 Insurance Education Institute.
The grant is being funded by the Insurance Education Foundation.
The program will benefit all Arkansans by promoting the teaching of insurance at the secondary level, resulting in a better understanding of the role of insurance in our society. The program will benefit UCA by making educators at the high school level aware of UCA?s major in insurance and risk management.
Debbie Barnes, Mary Mosley and Linda Arnold, College of Education, recently received a $20,000 grant for the Pathwise Mentoring Program.
The grant is being funded by the Arkansas Department of Education.
The funds will be used to train UCA faculty and public school teachers to use the Pathwise Observation system, which aligns with the curriculum and the state?s mentoring program. This will allow teaching evaluations to be done in a common language.
Kevin Browne, College of Fine Arts and Communication, recently received a $2,500 grant for a UCA Theatre production of ?The Threepenny Opera.?
The grant is being funded by the Kurt Weill Foundation for Music Inc.
The funds will be used for a fully-mounted production of ?The Threepenny Opera.? According to Browne, ?We are bringing this Brecht/Weill classic to our students and our audience.?
