A performance by Doc Severinsen and his Big Band, scheduled for Feb. 24 at Reynolds Performance Hall has been cancelled. Severinsen cancelled all tour dates for 2006.In place of that performance, UCA Public Appearances has secured the renowned Canadian-born trumpeter Maynard Ferguson and his Big Bop Nouveau Band for a performance at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 27 at Reynolds Performance Hall.
You might recognize his trumpet sound from the theme song to the movie ?Rocky.? His recording of ?Gonna Fly Now? won him a top-10 pop single, a gold album, and three Grammy nominations in 1978. He is the premier big band leader in the jazz world.
