The University of Central Arkansas has appointed Debbie Dailey as interim dean of the College of Education effective March 1.

Dailey has been at UCA for 12 years, serving as a faculty member, chair of the Department of Teaching and Learning for the past five years, and most recently as interim associate dean.

In making the announcement to campus Thursday, Executive Vice President and Provost Michael Hargis said that Dailey will bring a unique perspective to the evolving education landscape through her background as both a K-12 educator and a faculty member. Her leadership in teacher preparation and STEM education has positioned her to navigate the challenges and opportunities ahead, particularly in response to the complex changes impacting teacher preparation programs.

“Dr. Dailey understands that strong leadership is built on trust. She is committed to fostering an environment of transparency, open communication, and collaboration. She looks forward to working alongside faculty, staff and students to build on the college’s strengths and ensure its continued success,” Hargis said.

Dailey earned a Bachelor of Science in Education and a Master of Science in Education from Arkansas State University. She earned a graduate certificate in gifted and talented education from Harding University and a Doctor of Education from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.

The College of Education encompasses the Department of Elementary, Literacy, and Special Education, the Department of Leadership Studies, the Department of Student Transitions and Department of Teaching and Learning, as well as the Office of Candidate Services, the Technology Learning Center, and the Mashburn Center for Learning. The college offers bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees and graduate and post-master’s certificates in the areas of education, educational leadership, interdisciplinary leadership, school counseling, library media, instructional technology and higher education personnel administration.
