The Child Study Center at the University of Central Arkansas has earned accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children. The NAEYC is the nation’s leading organization of early childhood professionals.
The Child Study Center is an integral part of the early childhood teacher education program at UCA.
“The Child Study Center has offered the families of Faulkner County quality early childhood education for many years,” said Child Study Center Director Rene Crow. “Gaining NAEYC accreditation is a huge accomplishment. We are committed to staying true to research-driven practices, and NAEYC’s endorsement of our commitment to such practices only empowers us to continue to meet the needs of the whole child.
The Child Study Center at UCA offers a site where exemplary practices can be modeled for teacher candidates and serves as a valuable preschool experience for children in the community.
The curriculum offers a hands-on, developmental approach to early childhood education that strives to meet the needs of the whole child, including cognitive, physical, and social/emotional development, and practices that are supported by valuable research. The curriculum is individualized based on specific learning needs of young children in the program, and is an inclusive facility, welcoming various developmental needs of children.
Several departments across campus offer special services to the center, including speech and language pathology screenings, occupational therapy screenings, physical education and foreign languages.
