CDI Receives A &P Funding
Conway—The Center for Community and Economic Development (CCED) at the University of Central Arkansas is pleased to announce that The City of Conway Advertising & Promotion Commission has awarded $1500 in funding to help support the 28th Annual Community Development Institute, to be held on the UCA campus in August 2014.
“CDI helps encourage tourism and the advancement of Conway businesses, as more than 150 presenters and participants stay in Conway hotels, eat at Conway restaurants, and shop in Conway stores. We are proud to be recognized by A & P for our support in promoting Conway,” says CDI assistant director, Josh Markham.
The City of Conway Advertising & Promotion Commission was created by the City Council to facilitate tourism and the promotion of the City of Conway. The Advertising and Promotion Commission collects taxes on hotel/motel accommodations and levy taxes on all prepared food and beverages, as well as providing sponsorships for local businesses and events that encourage Conway tourism.
The Community Development Institute Central (CDI), established in 1987 at the University of Central Arkansas (UCA), in Conway, Arkansas, trains community and economic development professionals in Arkansas and surrounding states. The complete CDI experience is a three year training program, with one week of training per year. Participants move through the program curriculum in cohorts, and are exposed to a comprehensive, applied approach to the field of community and economic development. CDI is relevant for both new and seasoned professionals because it focuses on best practices and current trends. The institute’s faculty consists of development professionals from the corporate, academic, and government sectors from Arkansas and the Mid-South. In 2013, participants and presenters came from 11 states across the U.S.
