The Plank Center for Leadership in Public Relations has selected Riva Brown, assistant professor, to represent its ninth class of the Fellowship for Educators Program.
In an effort to facilitate relationships between public relations educators and professionals, The Plank Center for Leadership in Public Relations designed the Fellowship for Educators Program, which has placed 67 educators with communication teams at world-class agencies and corporations. The Plank Center is housed at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa.
Brown will be hosted by General Motors in Detroit, Michigan.
Developed specifically to create an on-going dialog between the classroom and boardroom, the program consists of an intensive, two-week summer fellowship, which allows the fellows to enhance their professional development, leadership growth and networking skills.
“Educators are immersed in the communications team, conducting research projects, training sessions and presentations, and assisting with company projects. In return, the host organizations agree to spend up to two days on the educator’s college or university campus with faculty, administrators and students to share industry knowledge, trends and valuable insight,” said Karla Gower, director of The Plank Center.
