The University of Central Arkansas’s Reynolds Performance Hall will welcome Boston Brass and Brass All-Stars Big Band with “Christmas Bells are Swingin’” on Thursday, Nov. 21, at 7:30 p.m.
For 31 years, Boston Brass has aimed to establish a one-of-a-kind musical experience. Performing everything from exciting classical arrangements to burning jazz standards, Boston Brass treats audiences to a unique brand of entertainment that captivates all ages.
Boston Brass is a Yamaha Performing Group and has been featured on The CBS Early Show, National Public Radio’s Performance Today and The Great American Brass Band Festival, as well as on diverse albums of their own.
The all-brass ensemble (trumpets, French horns, trombones and tubas) will perform along with the Brass All-Stars Big Band and will feature a fiery arrangement of classics and holiday favorites like the “Stan Kenton Christmas Carols,” “Greensleeves,” “Motown Jingle Bells,” “The Nutcracker,” “White Christmas” and “Christmas Song.”
“Boston Brass will be a great show to kick off the holiday season,” said Wendy Sparks, marketing director at Reynolds Performance Hall. “Their festive music is incredible, and they incorporate a lot of humor and personality into their show. I believe they will bring a fun energy to the stage and will fill the audience with excitement for the season.”
Boston Brass is a UCA artist-in-residence and is sponsored by the UCA College of Fine Arts and Communication. While on campus, the group will host two masterclasses for UCA brass students: “The Business of Music” on Wednesday, Nov. 20 and “Coaching Yourself” on Thursday, Nov. 21. Both classes will be held in the Snow Fine Arts Center Recital Hall.
UCA students may attend the performance for free. General admission tickets are $30-$40 for adults and $10 for children and students. Discounts are available for groups, UCA faculty, staff and alumni, as well as senior citizens. Tickets may be purchased online at www.uca.edu/Reynolds, at the Reynolds Box Office from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, or by calling UCA Ticket Central at (501) 450-3265 or (866) 810-0012.
