ASPSF names William Pontius as November 2022 Student of the Month

William Pontius

A University of Central Arkansas student has been recognized as the Student of the Month for November 2022 by the Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund (ASPSF).

William Pontius of Conway is a graduate student pursuing a master’s in data analytics. He earned a bachelor’s in business administration from UCA in May.

Like many of ASPSF’s recipients, the single dad was nervous when he first applied to enroll in college. “I questioned myself if I could genuinely handle school while raising my son,” he said. “Regardless of how I felt, I knew I had to try.”

But his hard work paid off! William graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Central Arkansas in May with nearly all A’s. He’s now enrolled at UCA’s graduate school to pursue a master’s degree in data analytics — and applying for internships!

“My ultimate goal is to provide the best life possible for my son and to be a role model in his life,” William said. “In truth, he is my role model and the reason for my efforts. Your financial generosity has allowed me to be one step closer to achieving my goal and has inspired me never to doubt myself.”

More of William’s story — told in his own words — is available at aspsf.org/blog/posts/november-2022-student-of-the-month.
