The Conway Kiwanis Club and Faulkner County Child Care Association, in conjunction with the University of Central Arkansas, will sponsor the 14th Annual Faulkner County Child Care Conference on Saturday, Jan. 21. The conference will be held in the Burdick Business Administration Building.The conference is designed to provide training and educational development activities for child care workers in Faulkner County. Fourteen program sessions will be offered including:
-Making music in preschool,
-Childhood obesity,
-Positive discipline practices,
-Playful learning in preschool,
-Storytelling made easy,
-Rainy day activities for toddlers,
-Round table discussion with directors and owners,
-Activities for school age children,
-Learning activities for infants and toddlers,
-Using bugs as learning activities,
-Open forum with Arkansas state legislators,
-Getting ready for kindergarten,
-And music activities for infants and toddlers.
The conference will begin with a keynote address by James Simmons, superintendent of Conway Public Schools. Don Bradley, Conway Kiwanis president, will provide a brief welcome.
The conference is open to child care workers in Faulkner County. Attendees will receive up to four hours of in-service training credit. A continental breakfast will be provided by ARAMARK Campus Dining.
Registration for the conference will be from 7:45 a.m. to 8:25 a.m. in BBA Room 201. The opening session begins at 8:30 a.m. with program sessions to follow at 9, 10, and 11 a.m. Door prizes will be provided at the closing session at noon.
