UCA Hires Emergency Management Coordinator

Tyler Lachowsky became the campus emergency management coordinator at the University of Central Arkansas in March. In this role, Lachowsky coordinates and conducts exercises that test the university’s preparedness, response and recovery capabilities both within the university and with partner agencies at the local, state and federal levels.

UCA Alumnus Awarded Fulbright Grant

The University of Central Arkansas announced that Danny Baxter ’18 was awarded a Fulbright U.S. Student Program grant for the 2018-19 academic year from the U.S. Department of State and the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board.

UCA, UACCM Establish Bear Partners Program

The partnership gives UACCM students who are pursuing an associate degree the opportunity to participate in campus activities and access to academic resources at UCA.

UCA Hires New Director of Media Relations

The University of Central Arkansas named  Amanda Hoelzeman ’05 as director of media relations. She began that role  Sept. 17. Hoelzeman, a native of El Dorado and a graduate of Parkers Chapel High School, holds a bachelor’s degree from UCA in writing with a minor in linguistics.

UCA, Conway Regional Announce $390,000 in Grants to Address State’s Nursing Shortage

The Conway Regional Health Foundation is providing a total of $390,000, with $240,000 for student scholarships and $150,000 for faculty development and School of Nursing initiatives.

Bridges-Larson Awards $500,000 to UCA

The Bridges-Larson Foundation awarded a $500,000 grant to the University of Central Arkansas Department of Film, Theatre, and Creative Writing in the College of Fine Arts and Communication.

Conway Regional Health System Makes Donation

The health system gifted a KayPENTAX Videostroboscopy System to the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders within the college. Health care professionals such as speech language pathologists use videostroboscopy equipment to diagnose patients.

Alumna Establishes Scholarship for Women in Finance

A scholarship of $1,500 will be awarded to two female students who have a declared major of finance. Recipients must be at least a junior and have a 3.0 GPA.

UCA Names Williams as College of Liberal Arts Dean

The University of Central Arkansas named Tom Williams as the dean of the College of Liberal Arts. In this role, Williams oversees the general direction of the College of Liberal Arts and will implement strategies that support and enhance UCA’s mission.

Governmental Affairs and External Relations Director Appointed

The University of Central Arkansas announced the appointment of former Arkansas House of Representatives Speaker Jeremy Gillam as UCA’s director of governmental affairs and external relations. Gillam began June 16.
