Getting to the Library
Parking and Shuttle Routes
The UCA Physical Plant provides a map showing accessible parking lots, building entrances, and shuttle routes for the entire campus.
Building Entrance
Universal entry to the Torreyson Library is provided at the south (front) entrance, with power-assisted doors. Ramp access is west of the main entrance.
The north entrance directs through Starbucks. This entrance is locked when Starbucks is closed, although the rest of the library may be open. The north entrance door is not power-assisted.
Library Facility
Collaborative Area
The 1st floor of the library is designated as a collaborative workspace. An accessible individual study room is located in the southwest corner next to the Archives.
Quiet Area
The 2nd floor of the library is designated as a quiet study space. An accessible individual study room is located next to the west elevator.
Elevators
Elevators on both the east and west sides of the library provide access to the 1st and 2nd floors only. Both elevators have Braille and tactile numbering and lettering both outside and inside.
Drinking Fountains
Accessible drinking fountains are located on the 1st and 2nd floors just east of the large study rooms and south of the vending machines. Select fountains on both floors are equipped with hydration stations to facilitate filling water bottles.
Lactation Suite
A Lactation Suite is available to provide nursing mothers with a private, sanitary, and comfortable room to express, collect, and/or store breast milk. The Torreyson Library Lactation Suite is located on the southwest end of the 2nd floor, and there are additional locations throughout campus.
Restrooms
Gender-neutral, accessible restrooms are on the first floor across from the west elevator. These restrooms are also equipped with changing tables.
Service Animal Policy
The library allows service animals as outlined in the UCA Board Policy 414 regarding animals on campus.
Sensory Friendly Space
The library’s sensory-friendly room is located on the first floor of the library in room 117 on the far east side of the building. For more information about the room and its contents, please see the Sensory Friendly Space guide.
Technology
Assistive Technology
- JAWS computer software is available on the accessible desktop computers near the Circulation Desk.
- Braille keyboards are available upon request at the Computer Support Office or the Circulation Desk.
- For assistance with changing computer settings, please visit the Computer Support Office next to the computer lab.
Other assistive technology resources can be accessed through UCA’s Office of Accessibility Resources and Services.
Headphones
Headphones are available for check-out at the Circulation Desk on the first floor of the library.
