Dear UCA Community,
It is with great enthusiasm that I announce the addition of Kerry Shannon as the new Sr. Associate Director of Campus Recreation and Wellness at the University of Central Arkansas. Kerry will officially begin his role on June 2, 2025.
Kerry brings over a decade of leadership experience in campus recreation, most recently serving as the sole professional staff member overseeing the entire Campus Recreation program at Arkansas Tech University. In this role, he managed all aspects of the department—including intramural sports, outdoor recreation, staffing, budgeting, facility use, and program development—demonstrating exceptional initiative, versatility, and leadership.
He holds a Master of Science in Health and Human Performance from Fort Hays State University, a Master of Arts in Christian Ministry from Friends University, and a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education from the College of the Ozarks. Kerry is also known for his innovative and inclusive programming, including launching the first Play Unified league in Arkansas.
With a strong passion for student engagement and development, Kerry thrives in dynamic, collaborative environments. His experience, strategic vision, and commitment to enriching campus life make him a valuable asset to our team and the UCA community.
Please join me in giving Kerry a warm welcome to UCA!
Best regards,
Richard H. Hammond
Director of Campus Recreation and Wellness
