Judges needed for an extra special History Day

We need judges and volunteers Saturday April 18th between 8-1. We provide training and invite UCA Faculty, Staff, and Students to register as a judge or volunteer. It is a rewarding experience and this is a very special year as the head of National History Day, Dr. Cathy Gorn, will be flying to Arkansas to attend our contest. Arkansas has had phenomonal growth the past 4 years and more than doubled in program size and added over 25 new schools. This growth means more judges are needed as we expect close to 400 6-12th grade students on campus.
Judges will be served breakfast and recieve a voucher for lunch.
The students chosen on Saturday April 18th will represent Arkansas in June at Nationals outside DC. Register anytime here.

At the end of the day the top 400 will be down to 65, having started at about 4000 last fall. These projects represent hours of dedication on the students’ parts. Judging is VERY important. We need kind people who will celebrate everyone and make decisions that are fair and based on the rubrics and established NHD rules.

Student Worker Informational Meeting

Student Success Services will be hosting informational sessions for our student worker positions. These positions include Tutors, Peer Coaches, and Supplemental Instruction Leaders. During these sessions, students will have the opportunity to learn more about our office, the positions available, and ask questions. All students are welcome to attend!

ASERG and Dr. Casey : AI Essentials for Administrative Professionals

As we look for ways to streamline tasks and stay ahead of the curve, ASERG is excited to host a training focused on the practical side of technology: AI Essentials for Administrative Professionals.
Seminar will be led by Dr. Mike Casey, Associate Professor of Computer Information Systems and Analytics, who will show us how to effectively integrate AI into our daily workflows.

Future-Ready Bears

Staff Senate is impending a new program this Spring. Future-Ready Bears is a program designed to assist our fellow campus staff with back-to-school supplies. The program is open to all UCA and Aramark employees who meet the qualification requirements. We encourage all staff who have a need to apply.

Residence Life Recognized on the Regional Stage

We are incredibly proud to recognize several outstanding members of our residence life team for their achievements at the recent SWACUHO regional conference. Ricky Harris was elected as President-elect, a tremendous honor that reflects his leadership, vision, and commitment to advancing our profession. Ricky Harris, Kateijah Young, and Kendra Erickson were also recognized as Top 10 Program Award winners, highlighting the innovation and excellence they bring to their work.

We are especially proud of Jordan Rouse for receiving the prestigious Bob Huss Outstanding Graduate Student Award, a recognition of his exceptional dedication, impact, and promise as a rising professional in housing and residence life. Additionally, Faith Earl represented our department by presenting and contributing their knowledge and expertise to colleagues across the region.
