The Department of Government, Public Service, and International Studies (GPI) will be hosting the 60th Arkansas Model United Nations (AMUN) Conference at UCA on November 21-22, 2025. More than 500 high school students from Arkansas and neighboring states are expected to participated in the two-day conference, which will include role-playing simulations of the General Assembly, Security Council, Human Rights Council, and other international bodies. UCA Linguistics major and Computer Science minor, Kyle Urban, is serving as the Secretary-General of the 60th AMUN Conference. Dr. Mark Elrod and Dr. Mark Mullenbach of the GPI Department are coordinators for the AMUN Program at UCA. Several previous AMUN Secretaries-General, including Brett Newcomb (1968) and Charline (Coleman) Kitson (1969), plan to attend a luncheon and the opening session at 1:00pm on Friday, November 21st. The keynote speaker during the opening session held in Ida Waldran Auditorium will be Dr. Don Baker, a Foreign Service Officer with the U.S. Department of State since 2005. Dr. Baker, who served as Coordinator of the AMUN in the late-1990s, taught courses in the UCA Honors College and the Department of Political Science from 1996 to 1999.
