Calling all UCA “cubs” to campus on Saturday, April 12th at 1:30 p.m.
If you are a UCA student and/or employee and have children up to 16 years old in your household, the Office of Student Advocacy and Community invites you and your cubs to join us at “Cubs on the Hunt”. This event will feature an egg hunt, arts & crafts, face painting, and prizes.

Join UCA Aramark Registered Dietitian Ethan Baldridge as he discusses healthy eating options available on campus, how to build a nutritious plate, tips for preparing healthy meals for work, and strategies for weight loss in the workplace. This presentation will be available both in person and via Zoom. In-person attendees will enjoy a cooking demonstration led by Dietetics graduate students, showcasing a healthy meal recipe. This has been rescheduled to Tuesday, April 1st, from 1:45 pm – 2:30 pm via Zoom and in the Integrated Health Science Building- Community Classroom. The Department of Physical Therapy will host an Open House on Saturday, April 12th for prospective students to visit the Physical Therapy Center and learn more about the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program at UCA. Guests will tour the PT Center as well as visit with DPT students and faculty as well as the Program Advisor. This event is drop-in (come and go) between 10 AM and 12 PM at the PT Center on campus. We will be happy to talk with you about your interest in applying to the DPT Program or choosing UCA for your undergraduate degree.
The PT Center is located on Bruce Street near Farris Rd, East of the Estes Football stadium.

Dr. Buckley T. Foster published his second book, So Great Was the Slaughter: Market Hunters, Sportsmen, and Wildlife Conservation in Arkansas, in March. Over the next year, he will speak at various venues across the state, including the Six Bridges Book Festival in Little Rock.
An account of the rise of sportsmen and conservation groups in Arkansas who made common cause to save the state’s wildlife resources
So Great Was the Slaughter reveals the untold story of Arkansas conservation pioneers who tried to save the state’s game and fish populations. As Arkansas entered the twentieth century, the national demand for meat and the ability to ship millions of animals to hungry cities like New Orleans, Memphis, and Chicago had driven many species, including bison and passenger pigeons, to extinction in Arkansas. Many others, including deer, bear, turkey, quail, and fish, were in danger of disappearing.
In response, an unlikely coalition of Arkansas sportsmen, hunters, and conservationists created a vision for conservation legislation, game laws, and the establishment of fish hatcheries and wildlife refuges. With support from influential outsiders like E. A. McIlhenny and the United States Biological Survey, they waged a long battle against entrenched political and commercial interests.
Buckley Foster’s meticulous research reveals how these pioneers fought to save the state’s wildlife resources from destruction and laid the foundations for sustainable, modern wildlife management in Arkansas. So Great Was the Slaughter will fascinate hunters, conservationists, historians, and those interested in the history of wildlife conservation and conflicts between market hunters and sportsmen in the United States and the American South.
