Confidential Reporting Hotline

The UCA Confidential Reporting Hotline (“Hotline”), with the support of the UCA
community, is an effective way to help the University address potential
noncompliance with laws, regulations and university policies. The Hotline is an
anonymous, toll-free, 24-hours-a-day, 7 days-a-week resource to report
compliance concerns.

Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration

The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival or Mooncake Festival, is a harvest festival celebrated in Chinese culture. It is held on the 15th day of the 8th month of the Chinese Lunar Calendar with a full moon at night. The Center for Chinese Language and Culture will host a celebration which includes Chinese music and Chinese food.

First Global Goals Week set for Sept. 20-29

Global Goals Week is a united effort across academia, business, civil society, and the United Nations (UN) system to inspire action toward achieving the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The theme for the first Global Goals Week at the University of Central Arkansas is #GlobalGoalsWeek: Act Local, Impact Global. To celebrate, the Center for Global Learning and Engagement invites students, faculty, and staff to participate.

Global Goals Week continues the efforts that began during UCA’s first SDG Action & Awareness Week in March 2024. SDG A&A Week raised awareness about the SDGs and celebrated UCA joining the University Global Coalition.

Faculty for Successful Students Lunch & Learn: Supporting Student Wellness

Join your colleagues TODAY (September 10) for an engaging Lunch and Learn session focused on supporting student wellness. Hosted by the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Academic Leadership (CETAL) and Student Success Services, this event is part of our ongoing Faculty for Successful Students campaign, running every Tuesday through October 15.

Each week, faculty are invited to gather and explore new strategies for helping students thrive. This week’s discussion will highlight the importance of fostering peer connections, which play a critical role in students’ sense of belonging and support. Strong peer relationships enhance emotional well-being, academic collaboration, and social engagement, all contributing to improved retention and success.

Meet CETAL’s New Instructional Designers!

CETAL is thrilled to welcome two talented professionals to the team! Jenny Brewer and Stacy O’Brien have joined us as instructional designers, and their expertise is sure to make a big impact—helping faculty thrive and creating dynamic learning experiences for our students.

Jenny Brewer brings a wealth of knowledge in educational technology, having previously served as an Instructional Technologist in Information Technology at UCA. She has demonstrated proficiency with various learning platforms, including Blackboard, Kaltura, Annoto, and Google Workspace, earning her the prestigious CETAL Insider award.
Jenny holds a B.S. in Marketing and Education and an M.S. in Instructional Technology from Mississippi State University, blending a strong educational foundation with technological expertise. She is excited to collaborate with faculty to enhance course design, implement innovative teaching strategies, and create engaging learning experiences. Outside of work, Jenny enjoys exploring nature through hiking, camping, and swimming with her family.

Stacy O’Brien comes to CETAL with over a decade of experience in K-12 education, where she taught high school mathematics and art in the Little Rock Public Schools. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Classical Archaeology and Art History from the University of Evansville, and later pursued a Master’s in Gifted and Talented Education from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Stacy is also a National Board-certified teacher in Exceptional Needs/Gifted. Her background in differentiated instruction and her passion for fostering student creativity will be a great asset to UCA. Outside of work, Stacy volunteers with Arkansas Destination Imagination, promoting creativity and problem-solving through team-based challenges.

Free Machine Orientations

Our machine orientations are designed to help you get the most out of your gym experience. Whether you’re new to fitness or looking to expand your workout routine, our machine orientation is here to guide you. During this orientation, you’ll learn how to safely and effectively use the various exercise machines available at our facility. Our certified trainers and Exercise Science students will walk you through the basics of each machine, demonstrating proper form and technique. Go into your next workout more confident! Book your appointment below. Appointments are ~1 hour long.
