Join members of the National Fellowships Advisory Committee for a lunch & learn session in Christian Cafeteria Executive Dining room on Thursday 10/10 from 12:15-1:30pm to learn how you can help students see themselves as potential fellowship candidates (and winners)!

Nationally competitive fellowship and scholarship opportunities like the Fulbright Program, Harry S. Truman Scholarship, Barry Goldwater Scholarship, Udall Scholarship, Gilman Scholarship, and many more provide opportunities for students from diverse backgrounds and with a wide variety of academic focuses and career aspirations to support undergraduate and graduate education as well as enriching post-graduate experiences in the US and abroad. Join your colleagues TODAY (September 17) for this week’s Faculty for Successful Students Lunch and Learn as we explore how to clarify performance expectations and help students succeed. Hosted by CETAL and Student Success Services, this session will focus on how setting clear guidelines can reduce confusion, alleviate anxiety, and lead to better academic outcomes.

Key topics for discussion include:

– Reviewing your syllabus and effective LMS use to ensure students understand expectations.
– Reaching out to students who have missed assignments and helping them create a plan to get back on track.
– Addressing any hidden curriculum issues—like note-taking strategies or how to prepare for class discussions—that students may be missing.
– Leveraging rubrics (and Blackboard’s rubric tool) to clearly communicate what successful performance looks like and encourage students to self-assess their work before submission.

Join us for a compelling panel discussion where faculty will explore how the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) can be used to enrich study abroad programs and promote global literacy among students. The SDGs, adopted by UN member states in 2015, offer a powerful framework for addressing the world’s grand challenges—people, planet, prosperity, peace, and partnership—transcending cultural and national boundaries.

During this event, you will hear from faculty who have successfully integrated the SDGs into their faculty-led programs, providing students with valuable insights into how global issues connect to local realities.

UCA Physical Therapy is happy to announce Dr. Amanda Bennett and Dr. Cassady Rankin each received a score of 800 on the National Physical Therapy Exam (NPTE), the top score available. Both received their Doctor of Physical Therapy degrees from UCA in August of 2024. Dr. Bennett and Dr. Rankin are both working as physical therapists at Access Early Childhood Center in Little Rock. During the DPT program, Bennett and Rankin completed the Advanced Pediatrics Elective with Dr. Charlotte Yates and Dr. Leah Lowe. Cassady Rankin is an alumnus of UCA completing her undergraduate degree in Chemistry with a minor in Math. Amanda Bennett completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Louisiana Monroe with major in Kinesiology. Amanda Bennett received the DPT Academic Excellence Award, the Research Excellence Award, was a finalist for the Clinical Excellence Award, and served as a Teaching Assistant for Dr. Melissa Allen in the Department of Physical Therapy. Cassady Rankin also received the DPT Academic Excellence Award, was inducted into the Physical Therapy National Student Honors Society, and served as a Teaching Assistant for Dr. Bill Bandy in the Department of Physical Therapy.
