Service and Experiential Learning

What are service learning and experiential learning?

Simply put, “service learning” refers to students applying their academic skills toward serving the needs of a broader community, often outside of the university. “Experiential learning” involves getting hands-on experience in one’s chosen field. Think of it as learning by doing. They’re two high-impact classroom practices that employers love to see on applicants’ resumes.

UCA’s History Department emphasizes both. Our students don’t just learn about the past. They master valuable, real-life skills planning, organizing, and conducting projects that each the public about the past. The do the hard work of making history.
