Amanda Bishop received her Bachelor of Arts degrees in History and English (with a minor in Honors Interdisciplinary Studies) from the University of Central Arkansas in May 2004. She received her Master’s degree in History from the University of Central Arkansas in December 2011. She has taught for Pulaski Technical College as an adjunct instructor as needed since January 2013, and at the University of Central Arkansas since Fall 2021.
Her historical interests lie predominantly in British history during the 19th century. In fact, her Master’s Thesis, entitled “In Pursuit of Sweet Trade: British Military Activity and Economic Impact in the West Indies, 1793-1815,” focused on British naval and military history during the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars, particularly in the West Indies (or the Caribbean). She is also interested in Regency and Victorian history, particularly on the social impact of the Industrial Revolution and British Imperialism. Mrs. Bishop also enjoys watching films and reading books that take place or were written during these time periods.
Mrs. Bishop has been married to her husband for 21 years and has 4 children. She is also a local Girl Scout Leader and a member of the Faulkner County Girl Scouts Service Unit. She has also helped off-and-on with History Day in Arkansas since 2002.
