The Second Annual Global French Studies Symposium and Film Festival

For our second annual Global French Studies Symposium and Film Festival, we are excited to convene a dynamic, pluridisciplinary series of research presentations, performances, and film screenings in celebration of the international mois de la francophonie (International French Language Month). With over fifty scholars, students, and community members participating directly as speakers, performers, or event facilitators, the series will reach hundreds of attendees.

We’re proud to be hosting three guest speakers: our keynote speaker, Dr. James Martell of Lyon college, Samnang Lep, Founding Board Member of the Cambodian American Association of Arkansas (hosted in partnership with UCA’s Center for Asian Languages and Cultures), and Alan Elrod, President and CEO of the Pulaski Institution.

The film festival is sponsored by the Albertine Cinémathèque Grant, which is part of the French For All initiative by Villa Albertine and Albertine Foundation, made possible by the support of the Centre National du Cinéma et de l’Image Animée (CNC). The University of Central Arkansas is the only institution of higher education in the state to be awarded the national Albertine Cinémathèque Grant this academic year.

As March is Women’s History Month, we’ll also have events aligned with this celebration designated in our program with a special symbol. Make sure to keep an eye out for those events!

Global French Studies is a dynamic and inclusive place to be. Keep our community-engaged programming free and accessible for all by making a tax-deductible donation to our UCA Foundation account. No amount is too small to make an impact!
