The Global Learning Scholar Program (GLSP) encourages students to choose academic coursework with global learning content for their programs of study. Based on similar programs around the United States and specifically at Florida International University (FIU) and State University of New York at Albany, UCA’s GLSP is designed to increase:
- Global Awareness – “Knowledge of the interrelatedness of local, global, international, and international issues, trends, and systems” (FIU)
- Global Perspective – “Ability to construct a multi-perspective analysis of local, global, international, and intercultural problems” (FIU)
- Global Engagement –“Willingness to engage in local, global, international, and intercultural problem solving” (FIU)
- Primarily through academic coursework and high-impact credit-bearing, education abroad experiences, National Student Exchange study away, or local service-learning activities.
Because GLSP is credit-based, students can graduate with the Global Learning Scholar or Distinguished Global Learning Scholar designation on their primary academic transcript.
