A unique experience of the CSPA program is its study abroad component. Students have the option of participating in a two-week study abroad trip to enhance their understanding of diverse cultures and the international student experience, while supporting their study of student personnel services and higher education administration.
Past study abroad experiences include Qingdao and Beijing, China, where students spent 10 days on campus at Qingdao University for a higher education/student affairs comparative experience. Upon completion of this educational component, students traveled to Beijing to visit sites such as The Great Wall of China, Tiananmen Square, the Great Hall of the People, and the Forbidden City.
The trip for 2016 included 10 days at UNIS (Centro Universitario do Sul de Minas) in Varginha, Brazil where students enjoyed learning about the educational systems in Brazil, touring the campus, and visiting both a coffee farm and coffee factory. From there, students enjoyed a tour of the Museau do Futebol (Soccer Museum) in São Paulo before concluding the trip with three days in Porto Seguro (the oldest city in Brazil), where students visited the historical downtown area, strolled the many beautiful beaches of the area, and shopped among the indigenous crafts of Porto Seguro.
