Research interests:

Dr. JJ McIntyre earned his Ph.D. in risk and crisis communication from North Dakota State University in 2007. He has conducted research for and consulted with many national organizations involved in crisis communication such as The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, The United States Department of Agriculture, and was a research fellow for a Homeland Security Center of Excellence. Currently, Dr. McIntyre is a Professor at the University of Central Arkansas where he is an active scholar that has been internationally published in numerous journal articles and book chapters. Dr McIntyre is also actively involved in developing scholarship for the field of crisis communication through his reviewing efforts on multiple journal editorial boards and local/national research divisions of Communication Associations.

  • Developed the original Building Emergency Plans that served as a template for all buildings on campus
  • Created, Ran, and Reported on several All Campus and All Community crisis drills.
  • Spearheaded the BA/BS curriculum changes for Communication Degrees.
  • Spearheaded the 10-year review of the Communication Program.
