Guidelines and Policies

Accessibility & Compliance

Compliance is not optional; it is a legal and ethical imperative to create inclusive learning environments that provide equal access to educational opportunities for all individuals, regardless of disability status. All synchronous online courses at the University of Central Arkansas are required to the meet federal regulations for RSI and accessibility. Explore the Accessibility & Compliance page for further details.

Artificial Intelligence

Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a rapidly evolving technology, and any guidance we provide may become less relevant as AI continues to develop. In providing assistance to faculty in the adoption of AI for teaching and learning, CETAL seeks to balance the promise of generative AI tools to strengthen learning outcomes with the need to uphold academic integrity, rigor, and transparency. Download the AI Adoption Guide.

Attendance

UCA does not have one uniform policy; therefore it is imperative that instructors are transparent about their course attendance policy.

Syllabus Guidelines

The course syllabus is a foundational document that plays a critical role in fostering student success. As students’ first introduction to your course, it shapes their initial impressions of both you and the learning experience ahead. Serving as both a navigational guide and a comprehensive manual, the syllabus equips students to engage effectively and succeed in your course. Learn more about crafting your syllabus.

Tenure & Promotion

Explore UCA’s guidelines and procedures found in the Faculty Handbook, beginning in Chapter 3: Faculty Principles, Policies and Procedures. CETAL offers resources, as well as sample binders intended to aid faculty and administrators as they work their way through this important process. Explore the Tenure & Promotion page for further details.
