Mission

The Child Study Center is an integral part of the early childhood teacher education program at UCA. It offers a site where exemplary practices can be modeled for teacher candidates and serves as a valuable preschool experience for children in the community.
Accreditation
The UCA Child Study Center is nationally accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. It is also recognized by the Arkansas Division of Child Care and Early Childhood Education as a quality approved site. Here is the NAEYC video.
Curriculum
The Child Study Center offers a hands-on, developmental approach to early childhood education that strives to meet the needs of the whole child, including cognitive, physical, and social/emotional development. Its practices are backed by valuable research. The curriculum is individualized based on specific learning needs of young children in the program.
Faculty/Staff
The Center is directed by Jamie Dallas, and its certified teaching staff consists of Ruth Rowell, Leeann Howard, Brenda Payne, and Debbie Storment.
The Center employs graduate assistants and student workers in the fields of education, psychology, family and consumer sciences, and speech/language pathology. In addition, several departments across campus offer special services to the Center, including speech and language pathology screenings, occupational therapy screenings, physical education, foreign languages, and others.
Eligibility
All Children must be 3 or 4 years of age by August 1st to be eligible for our program.

A $100 non-refundable deposit will be due at the time of registration.
School Calendar
The CSC operates in conjunction with UCA's school calendar. Hours of operation are from 8:00-3:00 daily for 4-5 year-old programs and from 8:00-12:00 for the 3-year-old program.
Registration Procedures
The Child Study Center is a community based program and offers no enrollment preference to children of UCA employees or students. The Child Study Center employs an open enrollment practice which allows families to place their children on a waiting list for upcoming years. Interested persons can contact the director at 450-3356 for more information with regard to this procedure.
