CDI 2018 will be hosted July 30 – August 3 2018 on the campus of the University of Central Arkansas.

Registration is open until July 15th, after this date you will need to contact us to see if any spots are still available.

Enrollment in each of the three concurrent sessions of the three-year program is limited. Prospective participants are encouraged to register as early as possible.  Attendees receive 3.5 Continuing Education Units (CEU’s) for each year’s attendance.

Please note that participants must move through the program sequentially. To attend Year 2, attendees must have attended Year 1, and to attend Year 3, attendees must have attended both Years 1 and 2. To attend the Advanced Year, participants must be a CDI graduate.

CDI sessions will begin at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, July 30th and will end at 12:00 pm, Friday, August 3, 2018.  A required special event is planned for Monday evening. Only participants who attend all sessions will receive credit for the Institute.



CDI sessions are held at the Brewer-Hegeman Conference Center on the campus of the University of Central Arkansas, located at 201 Donaghey Avenue, Conway, Arkansas, 72035.

Cost for attending the Institute covers the entire week of institute sessions, materials, refreshments, and special events.

Final payments are requested by July 13, 2018, unless prior arrangements are made. 

Full refunds will be issued for cancellations received on or before July 13, 2018.  Cancellations made after this date will be charged a $50 processing fee.

The Professional Community and Economic Developer (PCED) test will be offered Friday afternoon following the closing ceremonies.  Testing fee is $225, with checks payable on-site to the Community Development Council.  Advance authorization and pre-registration for the test are required 45 days in advance. Pre-register to take the PCED exam at The PCED is optional and is not required for CDI attendance.

The next PCED exam will be held on October 24, 2017.


Graduate Credit

The CDI curriculum is linked to UCA’s Master of Science in Community Development (MSCED) graduate degree program.  CDI participants may earn graduate credit toward completion of the MSCED program during CDI by completing all prescribed CDI sessions during the week.  Those who seek the credit course option must be admitted to graduate school and pay the required credit course registration.

To register online to UCA Graduate School go to  Please note:  There is no out-of-state tuition for this program.  All students pay in-state tuition.

MSCED Students who choose the degree credit course option will pay $300 plus the cost of credit course.  MSCED students who choose to attend, but without the credit course option, will pay a rate of $300 for CDI attendance. These rates apply to all currently enrolled MSCED students. There is no late registration cost for students.

A one-time $25 graduate application will be charged for participants who have not been admitted to graduate school.
