[1] Purpose

The Pre-Physical Therapy course of study prepares students for admission to the Professional Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program at UCA. Completion of the course of study does not guarantee admission to the Professional DPT program. For specific admission requirements, see the Physical Therapy page of the current Graduate Bulletin.

[2] Course of Study

To be eligible as an applicant for the Professional DPT program, students must earn a baccalaureate degree with a minimum overall cumulative GPA of 3.00 on a scale of 4.00 and complete the following prerequisite coursework.

Prerequisite Coursework (37 – 38 hours):

    • PSYC 1300 Introduction to Psychology
    • CHEM 1402 General Chemistry for Health Sciences and CHEM 2450 Introduction to Organic and Biochemistry OR CHEM 1450 College Chemistry I and CHEM 1451 College Chemistry II*
    • PHYS 1410 College Physics 1 AND PHYS 1420 College Physics 2*
    • BIOL 1440 Principles of Biology I AND one course above BIOL 1440, not botany*
    • BIOL 1410 Human Anatomy and Physiology I AND BIOL 2410 Human Anatomy and Physiology II*
  • Statistics (PSYC 2330, MATH 2311, SOC 2321, CISA 2330)

*Students must earn a minimum science GPA of 3.00 on a scale of 4.00 for all biology, chemistry, and physics course work and complete 22 of the 31 hours of science course work prior to the Professional DPT program application deadline.
